Choosing the right ring size – what you should know
Selecting the right ring size often presents a significant challenge.
It’s important to know that a well-fitted ring size is one that doesn’t cause discomfort. This means it must pass over the knuckle with slight resistance but not press against the finger.
It’s worth noting that sizes may vary slightly depending on the time of day or temperature. In the second half of the day, our hands are often more swollen. Also, in summer, when temperatures rise, our fingers enlarge, and in winter, when temperatures drop, fingers shrink.
The finger on which we intend to wear the jewelry also influences the size. In most cases, sizes on both hands are similar, but different.
Ways to Measure Ring Size
- The First Method – Finger Measurement:
This involves measuring the circumference of the finger with a string or tape measure while maintaining some slack. Then subtract 40 from the circumference expressed in millimeters to obtain the ring size.
Example: If the circumference of our finger is 50 millimeters, subtracting 40 gives us a result of 10, which is the ring size.
- The Second Method – Measuring a Fitting Ring:
If you have another fitting ring, you can use it for measurement. Simply measure the inner diameter and match your result to the size chart.
Example: If the inner diameter is about 17 millimeters, the likely size will be 14.
- The Third Method – Visit L’or:
